Located on Stanford Road in the heart of Kensington, this project was a comprehensive refurbishment designed to give this classical home a new lease of life. With the owners spending part of the year abroad, we were set a strict four-month timeframe to complete the works before their return. The project evolved from a detailed internal update into a full-scale renovation, eventually including the external decoration of the property and its adjoining neighbour, ensuring the house felt completely renewed both inside and out.

The Brief
The vision for this Kensington residence was to create a cohesive, harmonious interior that felt modern while respecting its traditional roots. Our clients wanted a "classic contemporary" aesthetic, with a neutral palette that would allow their art and collectables to take centre stage. Beyond the visual updates, the brief included a complete overhaul of the home’s essential services – upgrading the plumbing, lighting, and heating systems to modern standards – all within a condensed and highly managed schedule.
A central part of this refurbishment was the design and installation of bespoke joinery throughout every floor. In the main reception, we created a full-height wall unit that seamlessly integrates the original fireplace with backlit shelving, providing a curated space for the owners’ collection of books and art. This attention to detail continued into the bedrooms, where we designed custom-fitted wardrobes to maximise the property's proportions while maintaining a clean, minimalist aesthetic. By handling both the design and manufacture of these pieces, we ensured that every unit felt like a natural extension of the room's architecture.
The bathrooms were a particular focus of the redesign; on the second floor, we paired Cipollino marble with bold Baltic green and brushed brass fixtures, while the top-floor bathroom features a striking modern look with black hexagonal tiling and a custom-made vanity unit.

The Result
The refurbishment of this Stanford Road home shows how a considered design approach can completely refresh a property’s atmosphere within a very short period. Managing a full house refurbishment within a four-month deadline required a highly coordinated approach; because we led the project from the initial architectural design through to the build, we were able to maintain momentum and ensure the quality remained high throughout. The success of the interior work led the clients to expand our role to include garden landscaping and the external decoration of both the property and the house next door, resulting in an entirely cohesive and polished finish. The result is a refined Kensington home that perfectly balances heritage character with a fresh, modern flair, ready for the family to enjoy the moment they returned.
